Slogan “Create better understanding towards Burma for Thai people”
Background
Burma and Thailand are close neighbors, sharing a border of nearly 2,000 kilometers. Nowadays there are millions of migrant workers from Burma living in Thailand while many refugees in ten camps along the border. However, there is a considerable lack of understanding of the actual situation inside Burma.
Extreme prejudice about Burma exists among Thai citizens. It has primarily resulted from negative attitudes and a misunderstanding perpetrated by the mainstream media in Thailand, as well as textbooks, movies, and television.
There is not enough news and in-depth analysis that addresses the root causes of the political and human rights problems in Burma. Among few alternative media focusing on Burma issues, SNN have been trying to provide more information for Thai people. So that Thai people as well as Thai policy makers will have better understanding.
